„Image autopsies “. The theme of the forthcoming exhibition in the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum “Drawing in the laboratory – paper carries art”
From November 10th, 2023, to February 18th 2024, you can discover microscopic views of masterly drawings by artists such as Rembrandt or Rubens in a graphic show.
You will get to know the art-technological methods of a team of experts from Cologne for examining around 1000 Durch drawings (15th – 19th centuries) and thus get to know the phenomena of the art of drawing. Highly enlarged microscope images with a special focus on the artists’ different choices of paper and a look behind the scenes linked to Wallraf exhibitions such as “Secrets of the Painters” or “Discovered” can be found in the graphic cabinet of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum.
